Norton Family/North Georgia Community Foundation add to cemetery restoration efforts

The year ended with a substantial addition to the efforts to preserve and restore the Old Clarkesville Cemetery, thanks to the Norton Family Fund at the North Georgia Community Foundation. 
The grant, recorded on Dec. 18, 2020, is much appreciated during a challenging time for nonprofit fundraising, said Historic Clarkesville Cemetery Preservation Inc. fundraising committee chair Diane B. Brown. 
“This donation affirms our ongoing efforts at this historic community landmark,” Brown said. “We are truly grateful for this significant contribution.”
Fundraising is ongoing, Brown said, with a fencing project already underway at the cemetery, located just off the square in Clarkesville.
