Jarvis Van Buren

One influential individual buried at the Old Clarkesville Cemetery has quite a resumé. Born in 1801 in Kinderhook, New York, Jarvis Van Buren migrated to the south to work for the Stroop Iron Works.
Van Buren was a horticulturist, writer, nurseryman and builder.
His influence is a tangible reminder of our past in the form of historic churches, homes and Northeast Georgia’s apples.
