On May 8, Habersham EMC representatives Valerie Stamey, Nicole Dover and Sarah Smagur joined HCCP, Inc. board members for a cemetery work day and to present a check. A corporate fundraising drive is bearing fruit for the Old Clarkesville Cemetery.
A recent donation by Habersham EMC adds the local energy cooperative to a growing list of supporters.
HEMC is coming in as a Wyly sponsor, according to Barrie Aycock, Historic Clarkesville Cemetery Preservation Inc chair and Clarkesville Mayor.
“We are grateful for the donation and for the awareness this brings to the efforts to restore and preserve this community landmark,” Aycock said.
President and CEO of Habersham EMC Bryan Ferguson met recently with members of the HCCP, Inc. board of directors to learn more about the plans for the project.
“Habersham EMC is a proud supporter of this project,” Ferguson said. “We’ve been a partner in our communities for over 80 years and it’s important to us to preserve the history that makes our area so special.”
